Buzz: This YSRC MP doesn't like criticising TDP!

It is no surprise that the YSR Congress party leaders and the Telugu Desam Party leaders in Andhra Pradesh indulge in political attacks on each other almost every day. For the media, this political slugfest between the two parties has become a routine affair.

Interesting as it might sound, a YSR Congress party MP from coastal Andhra region doesn’t like this kind of criticism against his political rivals, not only in his constituency but also in the rest of the state.

This leader, who has become an MP for the first time, had been very active in the initial days of the party coming to power in the state. But for the last several months, he has been maintaining a low profile and has gone into a silent mode.

Despite the aggressive posture adopted by the TDP in his constituency, this MP has not come out with any statement criticising the opposition party.

What is more surprising is that he is also asking his followers in the constituency not to enter into confrontation with the TDP unnecessarily.

The reason is that this YSRC MP belongs to the same community which is solidly behind the TDP. He seems to be apprehensive that with the Jagan government targeting the TDP in general and his community in particular, he might lose the support of the community and that would ultimately ruin his political career.

There are also reports that this MP, whose family owns a group of educational institutions, is not happy with the decision of the Jagan government in imposing cap on the collection of fees in private educational institutions.

The decision is learnt to have hit hard the financial backbone of the educational institutions promoted by his family.

“In any case, this MP might not get the YSRC ticket in the next general elections. It remains to be seen whether he would switch over to the rival party or confine himself to the business activities,” a YSRC leader said.
