Did 'mad' doctor try for TDP ticket in last polls?

Suspended anaesthesiologist K Sudhakar, who was allegedly manhandled by the police in Visakhapatnam for creating “nuisance” on the city roads, had tried for a Telugu Desam Party ticket to contest the assembly elections last year.

This was the allegation made by YSR Congress party leader and former MP from Amalapuram Pandula Ravindra Babu, who had been in the TDP till the last elections.

Sudhakar was accused of being drunk and creating a nuisance on Visakhapatnam roads with his head tonsured and shirt removed, abusing the Jagan government and the police.

He was arrested by the police and booked under various sections of the IPC before being admitted to the mental hospital in Visakhapatnam.

According to government hospital for mental health superintendent K Radha Rani said Sudhakar was suffering from acute adamant psychosis.

The YSRC leader said Sudhakar had been associated with the TDP though he was in the government service.

TDP president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu had promised a party ticket to him to contest the elections, but had cheated him at the eleventh hour.

“That is why Sudhakar had lost his mental balance and become a mad guy. The TDP leaders should stop using Dalit leaders for their selfish politics. Naidu is known for creating rift among the Dalit communities,” Ravindra Babu, also a Dalit leader, said.

He alleged that Sudhakar had been addicted to liquor and was mentally disturbed.

“That is why he stripped himself on the road and talked all non-sense on the roads,” the YSRC leader said.
